About Dr. Sabahi

Expert rheumatologist, Iraj Sabahi, MD, brings more than 25 years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of arthritis to Pleasanton Arthritis and Osteoporosis Medical Center, serving men and women in Pleasanton and Turlock, California and throughout Alameda and Stanislaus Counties.

Dr. Sabahi was born and raised in Iran. He began his professional pursuits at Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iran, earning his Doctor of Medicine. Following graduation, he worked as a medical liaison officer at a private hospital, before immigrating to Canada.

Upon arriving in Canada, Dr. Sabahi experienced a health scare of his own. This experience strengthened his resolve to continue practicing medicine. He passed his American and Canadian medical exams and enrolled in an internal medicine residency at Howard University Hospital in Washington DC. During his residency, Dr. Sabahi specialized in the treatment of rheumatologic disease. 

Following his residency, Dr. Sabahi completed a one-year medical research fellowship at the  MedStar Research Institute, also in Washington, DC. During his fellowship, Dr. Sabahi regularly conducted clinical trials. This experience shaped his belief that innovation and communication both play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic pain caused by arthritis and other rheumatic illness. Before entering private practice, Dr. Sabahi completed two years of additional fellowship training as part of the Washington Hospital Center/Georgetown University program.

In 2010, Dr. Sabahi relocated to California and opened his two practices. When he isn’t developing treatment plans for patients or augmenting his professional skills,  you can find Dr. Sabahi spending time with his young son and daughter.
